1. Who we are

Shea is operated by Partnox LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA. For anything about your child's information, email hello@partnox.com and write "child profile" in the subject so it reaches us quickly.

This notice sits alongside our Privacy Promise, which covers your own account. Where the two overlap, this page is the more specific one for your child.

2. Shea is an adult service

Shea is not directed to children. It is marketed to, sold to, and used by adult women tracking their own hair. Our account holders are adults, and a Shea account requires you to be at least 13 years old.

We do not collect personal information directly from children. A child cannot create a Shea account, cannot sign in, cannot post, comment, or appear in the Circle, and has no way to send us anything.

A parent or legal guardian may choose to record information about their child inside their own account. That is different from information provided by a child, and it is what this notice is about.

3. Child profiles are for children up to 12

You can add a profile for a child up to the age of 12. We chose that limit deliberately. Everything on this page depends on your child not being a user of Shea, and a teenager reasonably expects to use an app herself, with her own account and her own privacy. So we stop before that point rather than blur it.

You may only add a child profile if you are that child's parent or legal guardian.

4. What you can record about your child

Everything below is optional, entered by you, and editable or deletable by you at any time. We obtain all of it from you, not from your child.

• A name or nickname you choose for the profile. It does not have to be their real name.
• An age range, not a date of birth.
• Hair characteristics: curl pattern, porosity, density, scalp condition, hair status, and length.
• Hair care records: wash days and routines, products used, protective styles, length measurements, care logs, and any notes you write.
• Photos of your child's hair that you choose to add.

5. What we never collect about your child

This list is as important as the one above, so we are explicit about it:

• No date of birth. An age range only.
• No address, no school, no phone number, no email.
• No location. We never request GPS, and location metadata is stripped from every photo.
• No faceprint and no facial template. We do not build, derive, or store any biometric identifier from your child's photo.
• No advertising identifier. Shea contains no advertising SDKs and no attribution SDKs.
• Nothing collected from your child directly, because your child has no way to reach us.

6. Photos of your child

Two protections apply to every photo before it leaves your phone:

• Faces are blurred on your own device, automatically, before the photo is saved or uploaded. The unblurred version never leaves your phone.
• Metadata is removed, including any location information the camera recorded.

Photos in a child's profile are stored in your account's private storage and are readable only by you. A photo in a child's profile cannot be posted to the Circle. That is enforced in how the app is built, not by a setting you could switch off by accident.

7. How this information is used

Only to give you the feature you asked for: to track your child's hair alongside your own, and to work out which products suit their hair. Your child's recorded hair characteristics are used to generate automated product recommendations and a fit score, in the same way as your own. No decision about you or your child is made solely by automated means, and nothing is diagnostic.

We never sell your child's information. We never share it for advertising of any kind, including cross-context behavioral advertising. We never use it to build an advertising profile. We do not send it to any AI service.

8. How long we keep it

We keep a child's profile and its contents for as long as you keep that profile in your account, and no longer.

• Delete the profile and everything in it, including its photos, is permanently purged immediately, across our database and our storage, in a single server-side operation. There is no recovery window.
• Delete your account and every child profile in it is purged with it, on the same terms.
• Backups. Deleted data is removed from our encrypted backups within 30 days of deletion, after which it no longer exists anywhere.

We do not retain a child's personal information indefinitely, and we do not keep it after you have removed it.

9. Your controls

You can do all of this yourself, from inside the app, without contacting us:

• Review everything recorded about your child by opening that profile.
• Correct any of it by editing the profile.
• Stop any further collection by deleting the profile.
• Delete the profile and all of its content: open the profile, then Delete profile. You will be asked to confirm, and it cannot be undone.
• Export a machine-readable copy by emailing hello@partnox.com.

Refusing to let us keep your child's information never costs you access to anything else in Shea.

10. Your consent, and your responsibility

When you add a child profile you confirm two things: that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, and that you have the right to give us the information you enter about them. We record that you confirmed it, and when.

In some countries, including Nigeria, the law requires a parent's consent before a service may hold a child's information at all. That confirmation is how we obtain it. If you are not the child's parent or legal guardian, do not create the profile.

11. When your child turns 13

Child profiles are for children up to 12, so a profile should be removed once your child turns 13. We will remind you rather than delete anything on our own.

The information is your child's, not yours, even while she is too young to ask for it herself. If your child is old enough to want her data removed or given to her directly, email hello@partnox.com and we will act on her request, whoever asks.

12. Changes to this notice

If we change how child profiles work, we will update the "Last updated" date above and tell you inside the app before the change takes effect. We will never apply a material change to information already recorded without telling you first.
